The Story Behind
Our Story

It started with an idea... Well frustration.

After 16-years as a marketing professional, I came to a simple observation: too many companies allowed complacency and disengagement to be the norm. I grew frustrated by the lack of truth, reality and meaningful interaction that business had become. I thought we could do a better job at building organizations to ignite that part of humanity that will always thirst for these.

Along the way, I saw too many organizations start out exceptional only to plateau as their passion fizzled. They fell victim to the promise of short-term results driven by profit that displaces purpose. Without clarity and the inspiration of something greater than themselves, companies faded into a “state of blahness,” repeating the same old actions, and expecting better results.

I fell out of love with marketing and realized my calling for building brands. And just like that, the idea for Huemanly was born. We believe great brands are built on something more powerful than profits. That brand had the power to inspire and revitalize, to move an organization from mediocre to amazing. That brand could cultivate deep emotional and authentic connections. That’s when I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life: use brand amplify the human elements that drive business to the next level.

We formed a family of brand nerds, creatives, and adventurers, who shared our philosophy for purposeful thinking, serving others, and growing multipliers. After many long nights and many virtual chats, we found the right formula to build the kind of brands we believed in: brands that are clear, relatable and meaningful. And we want to share it with the world.

We believe every organization has the potential to see this kind of inspiration enliven their company from top to bottom and inside out, to leave behind the false allure of quick profits to become brand-focused, values-driven organizations that change the shape of their world.

We are not a marketing company. Nor do we design logos. But we help companies prepare for these kinds of internal and external communication efforts. Our work sets organization up for the long haul. Huemanly is a brand strategy company designed to help business leaders create clear, relatable, and meaningful brands. We grow and maintain value for our clients through an ecosystem approach to brand building and management. Together, we simplify brands, guide brand launches, develop messaging platforms, and facilitate repositioning efforts across a variety of industries. Huemanly is based in the Greater San Diego Area and serves clients around the world.

Huemanly Defined

Pronounced (human*lee), Huemanly combines the words: hue (pure color) and humanly (within the scope of human means). Merged together, Huemanly means “to exist in the purest form”. We believe people search for greater meaning and sincerity in the brands they trust, and when organizations are clear about who they are and lead with their true colors, a powerful emotional connection can be made. It’s a way of thinking, behaving, and working.

Captivated by discovering new ideas, Marlino has built a reputation for delivering innovative design and marketing solutions for small and mid-sized companies over the past 16 years. Today, Marlino devotes his life to sharing his insights and expertise on branding, guiding organizations on the journey of building their business around their truth, developing the soul of the organization through the people who lead them. He thrives on building relationships and helping good people and organizations succeed. He is also active in the community, working with local colleges and nonprofits, participating in volunteer mentorship programs and providing workshops and seminars.
